YOU WANT WHAT MAKES ME SHINE

You Want What Makes Me Shine

18 × 18 in. | Acrylic, Gouache, Oil Pastel & Chalk Spray

A meditation on being admired for the visible parts of yourself while remaining misunderstood at the core.

Beyond appearance, beyond wants and desires, there is something deeper that cannot be seen at first glance. Light cannot be reduced to something someone else can take, imitate, or possess. They may reach for it, but they can never become the source of it.

POLKADOTS AND MOONBEAMS

45 × 45 in. | Acrylic Paint, Oil Paint, Oil Pastel, Markers & Chalk

Painted while listening to Polka Dots and Moonbeams, the jazz standard that inspired its title.

I sat with the feeling of being caught between choices between fear and the decision to move through it. The polka dots and moonbeams became a visual language for that strange, tender space where sadness, longing, and possibility can exist at once.

The painting is about the moments when we have to decide what we are going to make, who we are going to become, and whether we will remain seated in our fear or finally move beyond it

30 FOR 30

30x 30in

Painted in one sitting while realizing I loved them.

An intense, confusing moment of queer love waiting to be chosen when I should have been choosing myself. A painting about desire, tenderness, and the moment you realize that wanting someone else cannot come at the expense of wanting yourself.

YOU SEEING ME BUT YOU NOT FEELING ME

30x30in

The stars across the body represent the parts of me people can see the brightness, beauty, and presence while the darkness surrounding them holds everything it took to become that light.

You can see the shine without knowing the story that created it. You can admire the light without ever understanding what it took to carry it.
